That will never work. GWx2 runs both clients. If an instance of GW is already running when you launch GWx2, it will always fail.

I'd guess you have your security options set to "high" in IE.

Default Matty's Guild Wars Multi-Loader

I'm not sure if this has been brought up on these forums before (quick search revealed no relevant results) or if this is even the right thread to mention this, but I've come accross an interesting app called Matty's Guild Wars Multi-Loader that seems to be superior to gwx2 in providing a number of new features and handling the multi gw loading process in a much more streamlined and customizable manner. It works essentially the same as gwx2 in that it involves copying the game data folder and the app scrambling the registry etc. with notable differences being support for more than two instances of Guild Wars at once and support for texmod.

The app looks promising, however I am undecided as to whether it is safe to run (hopefully mere paranoia; the author recently implemented an auto-update feature which would explain the program's behaviour) as the program connects to the internet upon running according to commodo. The app has been successfully used by a number of users spanning presearing.com and the author's alliance [VIA], with no negative response to be found.

If anyone is interested I found the app on presearing.com forums. I'm curious as to whether anyone else has dealt with this loader and perhaps some insight as to whether it is safe to use. I would address the author directly but he seems to be off in China taking a Korean language course.

Verrrry interesting...

If this checks out as clean (locally, Spybot S&D and NOD32 say it's ok) - we may well have our new gwx2 which, although a great program, hasn't been updated in ages.

Wonder if there's a security expert who can check this out...

(Just gave it a quick test myself (sod security ) - awesome!)

So have you come to any conclusions with regards to the multi-loader? I plan on using it with a pool of 4 valuable accounts, so security concerns are paramount.

Sorry for the delay - I've passed it on to our resident security expert. Hopefully he'll post his findings soon.

Cool Help me? O_o

ok, i've done everything stated above, and everything that you people have said on how to fix it. when i run the program i get no error, but only one copy of Guild Wars opens. Can anyone help me?

Also there is another one my guildmate found, and although there has been no problem yet, i'm still unsure =\. It can be found at http://guildwars.incgamers.com/showthread.php?t=478751

I'd like to hear if any of you know anything about it, or if you can help me with GWx2. thanks =)

That sounds like a very complicated way of doing things (initially) and it uses a VM, so the resources will be huge (I'd imagine).

Secondly - and I hate asking this question - do you own two separate Guild Wars accounts?

If I had a penny for every time that's been the reason*....

*I'd have nearly a dime.

I just tried out Matty's Guild Wars Multi-Loader and it works great. Used it for about 1.5 hrs without a hitch... very seamless and my lass then bleeding edge computer handled 2 instances of GW with hardly a performance hit at all. Seems to be very good.... did I mention it is SIMPLE to use too??? :d

Yes, it is great - it's just a shame that Matty has disappeared to China for a month, I'd like to chat with him about it.

Ive just noticed a problem with Mattys multiloader. I usually run Xfire with the ingame chat option turned on.

Since I used Mattys loader (which works really nicely with multiple GW accounts btw) Xfire stopped detecting Guildwars, so I went into the Xfire options to find out why.

My Xfire had somehow been told to detect if Guildwars was running by trying to look at this path "c:\mattywasnthere". This looks a bit fishy to me and im sure that I did not change the Guild Wars detetion option myself.

The GWML.exe programm checked out clean through Bitdefender and Spybot on my end. But Id like to know if anyone else has found any strange changes on their system and if this is intened and needed for the programm to work.

"My Xfire had somehow been told to ..." by whom ?
Remove GuildWars from Xfire's game list and try games autodetect again.
ALSO, run games autodetect FOR EACH of your second, third, fourth GuildWars account, so that Xfire reads "those games" too.
If there is no game installed in "c:\mattywasnthere", Xfire shouldn't look there.
Also check your Xfire_games.ini and dev_games.ini for errors.

The answer is based on the assumption that "Mattys multiloader" also needs separated folder installations of GuildWars and on informations from http://wiki.xfire.com/wiki/index.php...sing_games_tab

I fixed the problem with xfire already. I only need it to detect my main account while it is being used. If I log onto the mule accoutns it will just be to trade items from my main account to the mules.

The problem is not that I couldnt figure out how to fix Xfire, its the path that was changed. I dont have a folder named "c:\mattywasnthere" on my computer. I did not create it and neither did the GWML.exe programm. But I do see similarities between the name of the creator of this programm "Matty" and the path which was changed in my Xfire programm.

Im just wondering if this is the extent of wierd changes people noticed. If that is all, then no worries. If its intended, because Xfire somehow messes up the GWML.exe programm, then all the better that this is fixed by the programm on running.

Hi,
I'm Matty, I've never used X-Fire so I've never encountered this issue.
However I can tell you what this is. One issue that was encountered whilst writing the program is that if an entry in the registry points to a real copy of Guild Wars, then any new copy of Guild Wars will try to open that instead.
Hence not being able to open multiple copies.
I wrote it to do this on purpose as it doesn't affect the game itself in any negative way. And by directing it to a non existant folder GW looks for the files in a path relative to its own which means the instances wont all be trying to use the same .dat file.

I'd like to know if this affects X-Fire greatly, or if there is any way around it if so?

Any other suggestions and comments are welcome.

Hi Matty - and thanks for dropping in!

The only issue with XFire is that it doesn't detect that Guild Wars is running when it is launched while your program is running. It's not a serious problem at all - except to those people who are "hours played" fetishists. Like me

In fact, that problem hasn't happened to me at all - maybe it only affects XFire's ingame capabilities on the non-primary instances of gw.exe.

It's not working for me. I've followed all of your steps properly and carefully but it's not working. Every time I start up GWx2, there are two "Connecting to Arenanet" windows, but when it's connected, one window closes, and it only runs one game client. Suggestions?
